Pearl Willner, a beautiful, talented and strong woman who lived in Clearwater, Fla., a longtime resident of Scranton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay B. Willner.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Sarah Nudelman Jackanow. Pearl was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna Business College. Before retirement, she earlier had been employed as an executive secretary in the law office of the late Attorney Emanuel Laster. She and her late husband for many years had owned and operated "the Gad•About" fashion stores in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre malls.
She was a member of Temple Israel in Scranton, the Jewish Community Center Sr. Adult Club, the Jewish War Veterans' Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of Hadassah.
Pearl was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed singing, dancing and playing Mah-jongg and being with her family.
Surviving are her daughter, Staci Willner Goldstein and Staci's husband, Dr. Keith Goldstein; son, Steve Willner and two grandchildren, Keiren and Hali Goldstein; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pearl's joyful personality was a delight to all and her goodhearted nature made all who loved her happy. She made friends wherever she went and formed meaningful relationships with so many people. She will be greatly missed and was loved beyond measure.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, by Rabbi Larry Kaplan. Interment in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.
All those attending the service are asked to follow COVID-19 protocols. There is no local shiva.
