Richard Burdyn Obituary

Richard A. Burdyn, 86, of Throop, passed away on July 14, 2026, at Marywood Heights, where he was a guest. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine Gabello Burdyn. The couple shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Dickson City, Richard was the son of the late Stanley and Bridget (Warzecha) Burdyn. He was a graduate of Throop High School and Johnson’s School, where he trained as a trade machinist. Richard dedicated 40 years of his career to Haddon Craftsman, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and work ethic.

Deeply committed to his community, Richard served on the Throop Zoning Board and ultimately became Board Chairman. He was also an active P.I.A.A. baseball and basketball official and a respected college baseball umpire, roles through which he earned admiration for his fairness, professionalism, and steady presence on the field.

Richard loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and joy throughout his life.

In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard E. Burdyn.

He is survived by his brother‑in‑law, Louis Gabello of Throop, and several nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection and gratitude.

A private service was held at the convenience of the family.
