Robert Speranzo Obituary

Robert Anthony Speranzo, 64, peacefully passed away Friday at his Scranton home with his family by his side, losing his battle with cancer. He married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life and partner of 46 years, the former LuAnn Simpson, on July 1, 1978.

Born on May 16, 1960 in Scranton, Bob was the son of the late Anthony and Evelyn Diehl Speranzo and was a 1979 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He was a hard worker having various jobs throughout his lifetime with many years devoted to M.J. Mackarey Snacks and Price Chopper.

First and foremost, Bob loved his family but he also had a love for music which he pursued with years of guitar lessons and playing drums in a band. Bob was extremely knowledgeable in the area of building and remodeling with skills he learned from his dad. He helped out many of his family and friends and neighbors using his excellent skills. He also had a love of movies and enjoyed spending time watching with loved ones.

Also surviving are his loving children, Gina Beall and her husband Eddie of Scranton, and Tara Speranzo and her fiancé Jordan Garren of Turners Falls, Mass., his grandchildren, Hailey Fedrick, Kelsey Fedrick and Jackson Garren, his sisters, Sandra Sacco and her husband Joe, Patsy Gaugler and her husband Mike, Rose Zalewski and her husband Tom, his brother Michael and his wife Robin, a sister-in-law Terry Cubberely, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Cubberely and Anthony Speranzo, Jr. and a sister Johanna Speranzo.

Family and friends will be received Saturday from 11AM-1PM in Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care 157 South Main Avenue in West Scranton. A funeral service will be performed at 1PM. In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the the donor’s charity of choice.
