Rocco Cipriano Obituary

Rocco M. Cipriano, 82, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Born on February 10, 1944, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Salvatore Cipriano and Antoinette Medico and married to the late Margaret Morahan Cipriano. A lifelong resident of the area, Rocco was deeply rooted in his family, faith, and community.

He was a proud graduate of West Scranton High School and went on to serve his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy. Following his military service, Rocco built a dedicated career as a draftsman with the Trane Company in Dunmore, where he was respected for his skill, precision, and strong work ethic.

A man of strong faith, Rocco was a devoted member of St. Rocco’s Church and the Holy Name Society. He also gave back to his community through his volunteer work at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.

Above all, Rocco cherished his family. He especially loved his role as a grandfather and took great pride in being called “Poppa,” a name that meant so much to him. His warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering love created lasting memories for those closest to him.

Rocco will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the deep connections he formed throughout his life. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family would like to share that their Dad thanks all the wonderful friends he made throughout his life. Your friendship and kindness meant the world to him. Also, they would like to thank the staff at Gino Merli Veterans Center for the care provided to Rocco during his time there.

Rocco is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kyra Cipriano, Scranton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Robert Lawler and Michele and David Blasko, all of Dunmore; seven grandchildren, Jarod (Kristin) and Anna Cipriano, Nicholas (Alison) and Christian (Amanda) Lawler, and Noah, Cole and Hope Blasko; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
