Romaine M. Kays, 77, of Dunmore, passed away Sunday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Romaine Golden Kays. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Prior to retirement, she worked for Tobyhanna Army Depot for 31 years.
Romaine enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hilltop Ladies bowling team. She looked forward to going out to dinner and spending time with her sisters and the west side ladies. She was an avid reader, liked solving crossword puzzles and loved to watch Jeopardy and baseball, especially the Yankees. A traveler, she especially loved her trips to Saratoga. Romaine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Nicholas Dodge M.D. and his office assistant Sandy as well as the staff at the Lackawanna County Agency on Aging, especially her personal care aide Tiffany Quiles, for all the care and compassion shown toward Romaine.
Surviving are brothers-in-law Eugene Telesco and John “Jack” Tigue, both of Dunmore; nieces Gina Sheehan and husband Joseph, Arlene Ames and husband Joseph all of Dunmore, and Mari Donegan and husband Ian, Jacksonville Beach, FL; nephews, John “Jack” Tigue, Dunmore, Patrick Tigue, Scranton, William Tigue, Dunmore, Robert Tigue, Scranton, Michael Tigue and wife Ali, Christopher Tigue, all of Dunmore; as well as grandnieces, grandnephews, and several cousins,
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Catherine “Kay” Kays Tigue and Patricia A. Telesco.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a mass at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St. Dunmore.
Interment, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.
Family and friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home from 8:30am-9:45am.
