Rose Kobeski Obituary

Rose Scrimalli Kobeski, 66, of Dunmore, passed away Sunday morning, surrounded by her loving husband and children. She and her husband, Francis Kobeski, celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in October.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael Ercole and Josephine Belavage Scrimalli, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and had been a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. She was a longtime employee of Bank of America where she retired after close to thirty years of service. She worked in various roles and was honored many times with special recognitions and awards.

Rose’s legacy is one of love, compassion, resilience, and humor. She married the love of her life, Francis or “Fran” in 1977. Together they enjoyed dining out, concerts, watching their beloved Eagles, baseball games, and Rose’s favorite destination, anywhere with a beautiful beach.

Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, shopping, gatherings with family and friends, and cheering for her grandchildren at sporting events, plays, and performances. She could always be found with her partner-in-crime, sister and best friend, Joanne. Together, they built an extended family that spent every holiday and birthday as one. The Kobeski and Murrin families traversed all of life’s ups and downs together and will work to find a new normal without these two amazing women at the helm.

Rose was the type of person that would always root for the underdog, had a passion for serving others, and loved to encourage others for growth and success. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on with her children and grandchildren, whom were the lights of her life and her proudest accomplishments.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cassie Kobeski-Schlittler and her husband Eric Schlittler; Michael Kobeski and partner Jaclyn Keyasko; grandchildren Zoey and Charles Schlittler; brother-in-law William Murrin; her cherished nieces, Aubrey Collins, Kiersten Gatto, and Elyse Murrin; brother-in-law, James Kobeski and wife, Karen; sister-in-law, Gertrude Truitt, multiple nieces and nephews, many cousins, and loving friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters Theresa Scrimalli Rinaldi and Joanne Scrimalli Murrin; her brother Carmen M. Scrimalli; nephew Michael Rinaldi; parents-in-law Edward and Stella Fron Kobeski; sister-in-law, Colleen Kobeski; and brother-in-law, Wayne Truitt.

The family would like to thank the team from Allied Services Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to dear friend, Carol Burti, for her spiritual support.

Rose’s all-time favorite book was “To Kill a Mockingbird.”  This quote from Harper Lee perfectly encapsulates Rose. “She was one of the rare ones, so effortlessly herself, and the world loved her for it.”

The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment will be private in Dunmore Cemetery.

Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions in Rose’s memory be made to FORCE—Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered at www.FacingOurRisk.org to support others with hereditary cancer challenges.
