Russell Robert Whitman, 60, Throop, died Tuesday afternoon in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He and his wife the former Theresa Schwartz had celebrated 35 years of marriage on October 1st.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ann Jones Whitman, was a graduate of West Scranton High School and was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Scranton. Prior to his illness and retirement, he worked for Specialty Records in Olyphant and various Trucking Companies locally as a tri axel Dump Truck Operator.
Russell enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the dog on the back with Nico and Griffin as well working at the ARCA races at Pocono.
Also surviving are four sisters, Eleanor Whitman, Sandy Dobbs, Mary Anne Ashman and her husband Mark, and Marilee Russell, al of Scranton, a brother Bill Whitman and his wife Debbie of Clarks Summit, and several nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Whitman.
There is no public funeral.
