Russell Carl Reese, Jr., 73, Archbald, died Saturday in Geisinger-CMC in Scranton.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Russell Carl Sr. and Jane Marker Reese, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1970 and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Sergeant and continued serving in the Active Reserves.
Paralyzed at the age of 31, Russell persevered & continued working full-time until his retirement from Lockheed Martin.
Surviving is his son Darron Reese and wife Melissa, Archbald; grandchildren Shelby, Samantha, Danielle, and Derek Reese, all of Archbald, and Chelsea Giuliani, Philadelphia; 1 great-grandchild; a son he raised as his own, Rich Matthews, Forest City; nephew Atty. Todd Johns, South Abington; niece Tracey Kornetka, Dunmore; and his former spouse Myra Johns, Roaring Brook Twp.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Leslie Reese, and sister Sandra Johns.
Russ will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but he would insist it’s “Party Time!”
A blessing service with full military honors will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Cathedral Cemetery, Oram St., Scranton. Interment will follow.
