Sam J. Falcone, 91, of Dunmore, died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Theresa Ann DeCarlo, in 2018.
Born in Pittston, son of the late Angelo Falcone, he attended Pittston Area High School and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Scranton. Before his retirement, Sam owned a dress factory and later a tailoring shop with Theresa.
Sam was well known for his homemade broccoli pizza as well as his quiche made with cardoons, lovingly picked in the field by his young friend, Cate. He generously shared both dishes with his grateful friends and family.
Surviving are his daughter, Paula Notari and husband, James, Scranton; sons, Frank Falcone, Dunmore, and companion, Nancy Koester, Scranton, and Joseph Falcone, Bellefonte; grandchildren, Thomas Notari and wife, Erin, Florida, and Madelyn Samantha Falcone, who was the light of his eye; as well as nieces and nephews.
Sam was the last of 11 children, and he was also preceded in death by his grandson, James Notari, in July.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Burial to follow in Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 10:15 a.m. until the time of Mass.
