Samuel A. Quinn, 82, of Dunmore, died Friday evening at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, the former Loretta C. McGinley, in 2017.
Born in Shamokin and a true resident of Coal Township for many years, he was the son of the late Samuel F. and Antoinette Evans (Evanovicz) Quinn and was a graduate of St. Edward High School in Shamokin. Prior to retirement, he had been employed as an inspector at RCA in Dunmore. He was a volunteer firefighter and lifetime member of the Maine Fire Company in Coal Township, and was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. As a younger man, Sam had enjoyed hunting and golfing, and was a lifelong Baltimore Colts and Orioles fan. Above all, his true passion was spending time with family and friends and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion during his times of need.

Quinn, and a daughter Kelly Ann Quinn, both of Dunmore; granddaughter Morgan Elizabeth Quinn, Dunmore; his brother Dennis Quinn and wife Christine of Montoursville; his sister Bernadette Dougherty and husband Richard of Clarks Summit; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
