Sandra L. Sacco Obituary

Sandra L. Sacco, 77, Dunmore, died Monday evening in Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton.  She and her beloved husband, Joseph E. Sacco, were married on May 3, 1975.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Anthony and Evelyn Diehl Speranzo, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years at Capitol Records Club, and most recently as an accountant with Emery Air Freight.  A talented performer and musician, she appeared three times on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour where she was named Champion for her unique talent of playing the drums while tapdancing.  She later went on to become a well-respected drummer with the group The Modern Image.  It was while she was playing the local music scene that she met her husband, Joe.  Additionally, she taught dance at David Blight Studios.  She always enjoyed trips to Wildwood Crest in New Jersey, but above all, she loved cooking and hosting events for her family whom she adored.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the care teams and staff of Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Scranton, Geisinger-Community Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, and Allied Services Hospice Center for all of the kindness and compassion shown to Sandra during her times of need.

In addition to her husband, Sandra is survived by their son, Paul Sacco and his significant other Shannon Stafford of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sisters Patsy Gaugler and husband Dr. Michael of Huntingdon, PA, and Rosemarie Zalewski and husband Thomas of Tunkhannock; her brother, Michael Speranzo and wife Robin of Clarks Summit; sisters-in-law LuAnn Speranzo of Scranton, Paulette Nish and husband Joseph of Roaring Brook Township, and Terry Cubberley of California; as well as several aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers Anthony Speranzo, Robert (Bobby) Speranzo, and Ronald Cubberley, as well as her infant sister Johanna.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.
