Shirley M. Nole, 91, of Dunmore died Tuesday morning at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. Her husband, the late Salvatore A. Nole died on Jan. 11, 2016. The couple had been married for 61 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Madelyn Henn Roth and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to retirement she worked in the local garment industry as a seamstress. Shirley was very artistic and had a talent for painting and needle point. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and spending time at Lake Moc-a-Tek with her husband and family. She loved cooking and family gatherings. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving is a son, Salvatore. Grandchildren, Deanna Ammermann and husband Samuel, New Jersey; Kirsten Weary and husband Kristoffer, Throop; Ashley Nole, Lancaster; Eric Nole, Dunmore and Michael Nole, Allentown. Great-grandchildren, Gideon, Maximus and Theoden. A sister-in-law, Mary Ann Benfante, Dunmore.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Leonard, a sister, Betty Colangelo; and a brother, Irwin Roth.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
