Thomas F. “Tucker” Carroll, 75, Throop and formerly of Scranton, died unexpectedly Friday evening in Geisinger- Community Medical Center in Scranton. He and his wife, the former Rita Frayne had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on September 27th.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Helen Gavigan Carroll. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School Class of 1963 and had served honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the Parishes of Holy Cross and Blessed Sacrament and prior to retirement he worked for Verizon Communications for over 35 years. Tucker was a member of the Taurus Club, the American Ukrainian Veterans Association (UKAVETS), the American Legion Post 665 and the Northeast Detachment Marine Corps League. He was a true Patriot.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin who will greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Michael and his wife Marian, and Jeremy and his wife Jennifer, eleven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tommy, Jack, Killian, Michael, Abrielle, Carson, Jaden, Jordan, Jake, and Joshua Carroll, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Avenue in Olyphant. Interment will take place in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton. All those attending are kindly asked to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear a face covering immediately upon entering the church. Due to Covid occupancy limitations at the church, it is asked that if limits are reached that extended friends and associates allow family and close friends the opportunity to attend the mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
