Thomas F. “Chick” DePietro, 71, Dunmore, died Thursday in Regional Hospital of Scranton. He and his wife and soulmate, the former Judy Donnini, who he chased since the fourth grade, had celebrated 53 years of marriage on March 19th.

Born in Scranton to the late Frank L. “Chick” and Louise M. Caputo DePietro, He was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1970 and was a member of SS. Anthony & Rocco Parish in Dunmore.

Chick was extremely proud of his entire family, his Italian heritage, and especially his granddaughters Danielle and Devyn. They gave him great joy. His face glowed whenever they were around. Chick was a great father and provider, wonderful husband, a very generous man helping many people, causes, and organizations.

He was presented the Pio Ferrario Christian Witness Award from SS. Anthony & Rocco Parish. Chick was a sports fan of the New York Giants, San Francisco Giants, Penn State, and The Dunmore Bucks. He was a member of the Willow Club and an associate member of the San Cataldo Club both in Dunmore. He enjoyed attending car shows with his 1963 Chevy Impala.

Chick was a very proud co-owner of DePietro and Sons Catering with his brother Frank “Chick” DePietro Jr. The business was started by their father Frank “Chick” DePietro Sr. and operated for 60 years. Although it was very hard work, there were many laughs to be had.

His family is confident that the sadness of his passing will soon be replaced by tears of joy and laughter.
