Thomas Owen Evans, 82, of Dunmore passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, May 16, after a hard-fought illness.
Born in Taylor, April 2, 1939, he was the son of the late William and Ruth Watkins Evans and was a graduate of Taylor High School. He attended Johnson School of Technology and prior to retirement he was a machinist for Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut where he lived for many years before returning to PA.
Tom enjoyed fly fishing and making his own flies. He enjoyed many trips to Montana with his buddy from CT. He had a love for gardening where he grew beautiful flowers and vegetables which he later used in the kitchen, proudly. While he lived most of his adult life in CT, he did spend a few years near his children in SC, but he always yearned to be “home” in PA. He had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in his church choir and is remembered by his daughters to always have a love for music and sang favorite songs to them often.
He is survived by his two daughters, Paige Zofcak and Kellie Evans, both of Mt Pleasant, SC and his companion of 16 years, Mary Vellela. He is also survived by his three grandchildren; Michael E. Zofcak, Jake W. Zofcak, and Gia L. Kondakor; cousins Peggy Ann Moult and Karla Racavich; and his beloved Labrador, Cupid.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Evans.
A blessing service will be held on Thursday, May 27th at 6pm at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
