Thomas C. Gribbin, 96, of Hawley, died Tuesday afternoon at the Green Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Dorothy A. Weibel, in 2015.
Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Geraldine Hazen Gribbin, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during both World War II and Korea. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an independent ceramic/tile installer. He was the original “Girl Dad” who appreciated humble living and a simple life. He enjoyed a good puzzle and working around his home and garden.
Surviving are a daughter, Catherine Fortese and husband, Gary, Hawley; granddaughter, Jessica Symons and husband, Dale Jr., Dunmore; and great-grandchildren, Julianna and Dale Symons III.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eugene.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
