Thomas Scott, 90, of Dunmore, passed away Wednesday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. His wife, the late Jennie Cali Scott, passed away April 21, 2020. The couple had been married for 54 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Luke and Anna Walsh Scott. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and a member of Ss. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. Before retirement, he worked at Clarks Summit State Hospital.
Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family and his six grandchildren, who will always remember his great sense of humor. He took pride in his Irish heritage, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Brian, with whom he shared a special bond. Thomas was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are daughters, Diane Gallant and husband, Daniel, Roaring Brook Twp., and Jennifer Comparetta, Dunmore. He leaves behind grandchildren, Sasha Podunajec and husband, Garret, Prompton, Anya Gallant, Houston, Texas, Kassia Gallant and fiancé, Tanner, Kunkletown, Emily and Brian Comparetta, Dunmore and Zachary Gallant, Roaring Brook Twp.; a great-grandson, Ronan; and a sister, Miriam Cavanaugh, Md.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Comparetta; by sisters, Anna Nigrelli, Dorothy Scott and Lorraine James; and a brother, James Scott.
The funeral will be held Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, Smith Street in Dunmore.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
