Thomas J. Stasko, 71, of Dunmore, passed away on November 5, 2025. Born in Olyphant to the late Stephen V. Stasko and Pauline Yourgosky, Tom lived a life marked by deep faith, and a love for exploration—whether across the country or simply “bummin’ around,” as his beloved brother fondly recalls.
A graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1972, Tom went on to study electronics at Johnson College, laying the foundation for a long and respected career as an electronic technician at Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he served for over 35 years before retiring.
Tom’s faith was central to his life. He served as president of the Holy Name Society and made an annual pilgrimage to Mount Saint Mary’s University and Seminary with the Corpus Christi Men’s Retreat through the Diocese of Harrisburg—a tradition that brought him both spiritual renewal and cherished fellowship.
He found joy behind the lens of a camera, capturing moments with the same attentiveness he brought to every aspect of his life. Whether traveling near or far, Tom embraced the world with curiosity and kindness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Pauline, a brother, Michael and a brother-in-law James Ryder.
Thomas is survived by his loving family, including his brother Stephen F. Stasko and wife Catherine of Chambersburg; sisters, Marianne Ryder of Clarks Summit and Theresa Donnini and husband Fred of Lake Ariel; a niece and nephew, Lauren Ryder and TJ Ryder; as well as two grandnieces Kinsley and Layla Mae.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Thomas’s honor to Saint Francis’ Soup Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave, Scranton.
Friends may call at Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St, Dunmore, from 8:30am to 9:30am on Tuesday, November 11. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 10am at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St, Dunmore. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Throop.
