Thomas Joseph Kavulich Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an all-around good guy, Thomas J. “Cal” Kavulich, who left his cherished earthly home on Sunday, Feb.  16th at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center from complications of heart disease.

Born in Taylor, on May 10, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Verna Chesmar Kavulich.  He attended Taylor Elementary Schools and was a 1969 graduate of Riverside High School where he was an outstanding football player having been selected to play in the Pennsylvania Big 33 game.  He was awarded a football scholarship to Boston College where he earned a degree in business.

Upon graduating, he began Kavulich Construction Co. and became one of the area’s foremost prominent concrete contractor and a well-known mason.

Cal was the smartest guy we have ever known only to be topped by his generosity to all who needed him.

Surviving are his wife Terry Vakay Kavulich of Moosic; a son Andrew of Moosic; daughters Calla of Moosic, and Annie and fiancé Dr. Pandi Todhe of  Easton;  a brother, Joseph of Scranton; two sisters, Rose Coccia of Old Forge, and Carol Thomas and husband James of Taylor; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, James.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday in SS. Peter and Paul Church, West Scranton, by Rev. James Paisley.

Interment, SS. Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery.

As per Cal’s wishes, there were no calling hours.

R.I.P. Dad. You gave us a great life. Love you.

Arrangements and care were entrusted to his lifelong friend, Sid DeSantis, and the staff of the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., Dunmore.
