Thomas “TC” Costello, Sr., 75, Scranton, passed away peacefully Monday morning at Allied Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife the former Donna Galasso 35 years ago.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Terrance V. and Betty Jean Leonard Costello. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School Class of 1966 and then entered the U.S. Navy where he served honorably during the Vietnam War as an Aviation Storekeeper on the CV11 USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier. After returning home he worked as a part time Scranton Police Officer for three years and then went on to work at RCA/Thompson for over thirty years prior to retirement. TC was a member of the American Legion Post 665 Dickson City and was a former member of the Scranton Pool League. He was an avid pool player, enjoyed motorcycles and took great pride in his Harley Davidson.
Surviving are a daughter Colleen Costello and her fiancé Rocco Lameo of Scranton, a son Thomas Costello, Jr., Scranton, a grandson Vincenzo Iacavazzi, Scranton, two sisters, Peggy Freeman and her husband Hugh, Isle of Man, UK, and Sarah Bartgis, Elizabethtown, NY, a brother, Terry Costello and his wife Jennifer, Scranton, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a nephew Gordon “Butch” Appel.
A visitation will be held Monday 10AM-11AM in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street Dunmore. A memorial service will follow at 11AM. Inurnment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery.
