Tina M. Lavelle, 66, of Ransom Twp., passed away after a lengthy and bravely fought battle with ALS. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gary S. Lavelle.
Born in Scranton to the late Angelo and Grace Rinaldi Coccia, she was a graduate of Bishop O’Hara High School and member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. She spent the first half of her life working in banking as an Asst. Vice President at PNC before moving to administrative assistant of Marywood’s Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Also surviving are daughters Stephanie Shivock and husband Christopher, and Jessica Miller and husband Frank, all of Newton Twp.; grandchildren Avery and Mason Shivock, Henry Miller and a new baby Miller on the way; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Beloved wife and devoted Nana, she lived for her family. She raised her girls with a deep sense of family values and togetherness. You could find Tina and her family having lunch together every Sunday, on vacations to the beach, celebrating holidays and milestones, or at all the grandkids events. The love of her grandkids also fueled a passion for Tina to leave them a cleaner world. She started huge communities online for recycling advice and local donations, helping countless families and charities in the process. Tina enjoyed all the wildlife that her country home provided her, especially her bird feeders. From woodpeckers to cardinals, and definitely her favorite humming birds, she loved the beauty of nature.
The family would like to thank Marissa at CPT, Kathleen for home health, and the Hershey medical staff.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment will be private.
All those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church for the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made payable to ALS Philadelphia, c/o Maureen Reid, Hershey ALS Clinic, neurology dept., 30 Hope Dr., Hershey PA 17033.
