Veronica “Bonnie” Bolus, 83, of Clarks Summit, Pa., and Alexandria Bay, New York, died Saturday afternoon with her son by her side. She was the wife of the late George R. Bolus, who died April 18, 2004. The couple was married for 42 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rosemary Kelley Ford. She was a graduate of the former St. Ann’s Monastery High School in Scranton and was a member of St. Joseph Melkite Church and its Women’s Society.
Bonnie enjoyed spending her summers on the St. Lawrence River with her family and friends and billfish tournament fishing with her husband throughout the Bahamas during the winter months. She was a former member of the Billfish Foundation, the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Thousand Island Land Trust, Glen Oak Country Club, Waverly, Pa. and Glenmaura National, Moosic, Pa. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved and cared deeply for her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Mark and wife, Chris, North Abington Twp.; grandchildren, Taylor and Olivia Bolus; Paige Pugh and husband, Dillion; and Austin and Noah Bolus; a sister, Joan Beagle, Harleysville; sister-in-law, Barbara Albert; and brother-in-law, Edward Bolus; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Frank G. Bolus; sisters, Helen Fanning, Rosemary Eber, Jane Sanderson and Ann Regan; brother, Michael Ford and an infant brother, Bernard Ford; a sister-in-law, Karen Murray; and brother-in-law, Joseph Bolus.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church, 130 St. Frances Cabrini Ave., Scranton. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Family and friends may pay their respects Monday morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
