Vincent A. “Bill” Beseda, 87, passed away on Friday peacefully in his own home with his daughter by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Andrzejewski, who died April 3, 2017.
Born and raised in Old Forge, son of the late Andrew and Josephine Mikiewicz Beseda, he attended St. Mary’s School in the Greenwood section, and graduated from Old Forge High School. He served in the United States Air Force and went on to work at the Tobyhanna Army Depot. Upon his retirement, he took a night shift job at Mr. Z’s, which he enjoyed for many years.
“Bill” as he was affectionately nicknamed by his Aunt Lou, was a mild man of few words who was always willing to assist anyone in need. This good nature was magnified during the time that he cared for his wife after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and was by her side until her death.
Bill loved his family and his extended family, “The Browns.” He prided himself with family vacations in Ontario but his true passion was his fishing trips with his son and fishing buddies “Gray and Joe.” The memories are a true blessing for all.
Surviving is his daughter, Andrea DeLorenzo of Scranton; granddaughters Ashley Brown and husband Matthew, and their soon to be arriving son, Bill’s first great-grandchild, Jackson Vincent, all of Madison Township, and Melissa Beseda of Washington; his sister, Mary Ann Brigido of Old Forge; nieces and nephews; and his beloved furbabies who were his little sidekicks.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his son Vincent Jr.; his brother Andrew “Sonny” and wife Terry; and brother-in-law Peter Brigido.
Private services were held with family.
