William P. Meehan, 43, of Scranton, passed away Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. His wife, the former Nicole Nicholas, and twin daughters, Aislinn and Hannah survive him.
Born in Kingston, raised in Dunmore, he was the son of Elizabeth Bilbow Meehan and John L. Meehan. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended the Pennsylvania State University. He was employed as a civil estimator and facility manager at Fabcor Inc.
He was a wonderful son and father who adored his beloved daughters above all else. He was the most loyal brother and friend – ready and willing to help anyone in need. As a lifelong outdoorsman, he enjoyed the peacefulness nature provided to him through hunting, fishing and riding his ATV. His many other interests included cooking, photography, playing the guitar and all facets of science with a particular interest in astronomy.
He will be greatly missed by all those who had the opportunity to truly know and love him.
Surviving are a brother, Patrick and wife, Corissa; niece, Eva Amelia Meehan; and nephews, Aengus Patrick and Bodhi Linus Meehan, Fleetville; a sister, Kelly Bagdonas and husband, Sean; nephew, John Liam Bagdonas, New Hope, Pa.; aunts and uncles, Joseph Bilbow and wife, Betty; Robert “Rolo” Meehan and wife, Pierrette; and Thomas Meehan and wife, Sharon; mother-in-law, Lorraine Nicholas; numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Virginia Bilbow; paternal grandparents, John and Mary Louise Meehan and Marlene Dean; as well as his aunts, Annie and Maureen Meehan; and father-in-law, Barry Nicholas.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1414 E. Elm St., Scranton. All those attending the Mass are kindly and respectfully asked to socially distance and are required to wear a mask. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
Viewing hours will be held privately with family.
