William “Bill” Barthold, 74, of Mount Cobb, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14th at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Scranton, PA, he attended West Scranton High School. Also, he served in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by parents, William C. Barthold and Isabelle Nichols Barthold.
Bill was a man who always found his greatest joys outdoors--whether he was fishing, hunting, or riding his quad through the countryside. He had a deep love for nature, a steady hand, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He especially cherished the companionship of his loyal dog, Ginger.
Throughout his working years, Bill was employed in the garment and printing industries. Bill held positions at Bonacci Garment, Romarts, and Panel Prints. He will always be remembered for his dedication, work ethic, and commitment to the companies.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Bertha Barthold; his children Brian Barthold and partner Sherry Anderson, and daughter, local artist Kelsey Barthold Phillips of Barthold Studio and husband Robert Phillips. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Mazurick and husband Tom Mazurick, Anne Maslowski, and David Barthold wife Linda, and nieces and a nephew.
Bill will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his kind and steady presence to all those he met, and the immense joy he brought to all of his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton.
